Why Do You Wear Underwear?

Do you ever question the idea of wearing underwear? Is there a point to it? I only see three reasons to wear underwear:

  1. To keep you warm (long johns come to mind)
  2. It’s super comfy (maybe if you have silk underwear)
  3. If it’s that time of month or you’re wearing a miniskirt

Is it so cold where you live that you need to wear underwear for warmth? Does normal underwear even keep you noticeably warmer? “Man! I’m freezing out here!! I wish I had worn underwear today!” For this to take effect, I believe it’d have to be really cold and you’d need to be referring to wearing long johns.

Do you find underwear super comfy? It feels so liberating to not have underwear riding up your crack. Don’t get me wrong, underwear can be comfy when that’s the only thing you’re wearing, but in my experience wearing them with clothes is just a pain in the ass (literally).

Some people seem to be under the impression that jeans would be uncomfortable to wear without underwear. Well, have you ever tried it? It may feel a little weird at first, so I recommend giving it a few days to get used to it.

There may be an adjustment phase where it may feel a little weird so give it a few tries to get used to it. But once you get used to it, as my friend told me back in the day, “Once you go commando you, you never go back.”

The only problem I have ever run into is if there’s a scratchy tag on the inside of the shorts/pants (uncommon though). Sometimes you can cut it off and it feels fine, sometimes it still scratches. But you’ll only ever have this problem if someone gifts you clothes (or you already have them). I would never buy shorts/pants that were uncomfy while going commando because that’s how I try them on (seems obvious, right?).

I’ve heard some people say that not wearing underwear would cause their shorts/pants to smell bad much more quickly. While this may be the case for others, it’s not my experience. If you live somewhere where it’s really hot, wouldn’t you sweat less if you wore less clothes? Plus, not wearing underwear gives your shorts more room to breath which also leads to less smell.

Unless you’re not a good wiper, I don’t see what the problem would be with smell. I often times wear the same shorts 5+ times (and sweat a little in them) before I can smell anything at all in the groin area (of the pants).

Does it Look Sexier?

Girls, do you think it looks sexier to see shirtless guys with boxers above their jeans or to just see skin above the jeans? Guys, what do you think? Does it even make a difference?
Why Wear Underwear?Why Wear Underwear?

Conversely, guys, do you think girls are sexier when they don’t wear underwear? Girls, do you think it’s sexier when no underwear is shone? Do you find it skanky if a woman doesn’t wear underwear? If so, why?

Girls specifically try to hide their underwear from view, right? Women normally get snickers if a g-string or thong is showing. So why not just don’t wear any underwear at all?

My Experience

I haven’t worn underwear since I was in 8th grade. Heaven, I don’t even OWN underwear (the above picture is me wearing biker shorts). Don’t get me wrong though, I wasn’t that much of a forward thinker. It’s quite popular ’round here for folks to not wear underwear, which likely has a lot to do with the surf culture. Once I stopped wearing underwear I never went back.

To Sum It Up

Not wearing underwear (in my opinion)…

  • Is comfier
  • Is sexier
  • Means less stuff to wash, pack, and buy

Any commandos want to share their experience with no undies? Any underwearers going to give it a shot? Let me know in the comments.

I wear underwear because I do laundry once every other month (or so). I have two pairs of pants and maybe six boxers, so I wear my boxers for about a week at a time and my pants for about a month at a time, sometimes more. It saves me from wasting water on smaller, more frequent loads of laundry.

I agree, more freedom is more comfortable, which is why I wear boxers instead of briefs or boxer briefs. Personally I do find the rough seams inside jeans to be uncomfortable, but everyone has a different tolerance for roughness touching their skin, and I know that I’m easily irritated in that way.

Sexiness is not a concern for me, but I do enjoy seeing people’s underwear sticking out above their pants because sometimes they have funny patterns on them! :)

Laundry once every other month! Good effort man!!

Hey, if boxers are more comfy for ya, wear ‘em up. That was my problem with them, they would always ride up too high. As far as the seems of jeans being uncomfortable, it will definitely take a few days to get used to it (or maybe some new jeans!)

Hehe, yeah people’s underwear can can be funny. :D

      Thanks for the comment Jillian!

Great post, it made me smile. I used to live on a tropical island and wear a bikini for most of the day, and in the evenings when I switch back to ‘normal’ clothes, often just skipped the undies. Comfortable! But back home it’s just default to wear underwear, even tho’ there’s not really a point.

Gonna give it a try, here too. After all, a thong really won’t keep you warm in winter…so why bother wearing one at all?

Thanks for kind words Rose. :) Yeah, thongs are pretty pointless. I’m not sure how comfortable they though are because I’ve never worn one before. ;)

What about when you wear loose shorts Trevor? Doesn’t the exposure of your crown jewels to everyone effect you?

Haha good point Andrew! It’s this reason why I don’t teach yoga in soccer shorts. ;) But no it does not bother me, if anything I see it as a courage exercise.

Sounds very liberating, actually …and point on. For even less restriction..try naked yoga ( but you most likely already have!)
